Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What is BlissMessage?

BlissMessage is all about free text messaging between iPhone users. New messages are instantly pushed to your iPhone. Messages are not public, rather they are shared between the sender and recipient only.

How does BlissMessage work?

BlissMessage sends messages over the internet. It leverages push notifications, an iPhone OS 3.0 feature. Recipients instantly receive the messages without a need for permanently running the app.

Do both sender and recipient need to have an iPhone?

BlissMessage works best between iPhone users, but there is also a web interface. This can be used to send messages as well. This means that even users who don't own an iPhone can also push messages to their friends blessed with iPhones.

How do I signup?

You can either signup using the iPhone app or use the web interface.

How do I address and invite other users?

It's as simple as sending a message to the recipient's email address. New users will be notified by email that they have a new message. Once the recipient has used the iPhone app for the first time messages will be directly pushed to his iPhone.

Where do I get the BlissMessage app?

How can I receive Twitter replies and mentions?

You have to specify your Twitter name in the profile. The Twitter form field is present in the web interface only at the moment (cannot be set with the iPhone app). Please note that this service is currently considered BETA.

Can I use the same account with multiple devices (iPhone, iPod touch)?

No, currently only one device is supported. If you're using multiple devices only one random device will receive the notifications.

Is the transmission of messages secure?

Data transfer is SSL secure (iPhone-to-server, browser-to-server, server-to-Apple's push server)

Do you read messages?

No, we do not read your messages. Period.

For how long are messages stored on the server?

Fetching the messages with the iPhone app automatically deletes them on the server. The messages can be manually deleted in the web interface, too.

Do you protect the messages from being (uninentionally) read by system administrators?

How much does BlissMessage cost?

Basic text messages are and will remain free. There might be other features coming in the future which might cost some bucks. Attention: Depending on your data plan, there might be some costs caused by your service provider.
